600 thousand vaccine doses to arrive by early January

Poland will receive 300 thousand doses of anti-coronavirus vaccine at the end of December and an additional 300 thousand doses in early January, Chancellery Chief Michal Dworczyk said.

Mr Dworczyk said the first 10 thousand doses of the vaccine will be transported to healthcare institutions, adding that healthcare workers will be the first to be inoculated.

He said the government would set up 509 vaccinations points across the country, noting that the first doses will be distributed among 70 institutions only. When the vaccine becomes available in large quantities, health authorities are planning to administer 3,5 million vaccinations a month.

On his social media, Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki said Poland was ready to roll out its vaccinaton programme, as the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has issued a recommendation for Pfizer/BioNTech s joint anti-COVID vaccine.
