Authorities order mayor to green-light building of Islamist school

The administrative court s decision, ordering a mayor to issue a permit for the constuction of an Islamist school, is yet another shocking example of growing Islamisation in the country. The institution is run by the same organisation that oversees the construction of a mosque in another city, using taxpayers money to the tune of millions of euros.

Islamisation is spreading rapidly in France, bolstered by the use of public funds in some places. A few days after it was revealed that Strasbourg s Green Party leaders had decided to fiance the construction of Europe s largest mosque with more than 2.5 million euros, another astonishing decision came to light.

On 7 April, the Grenoble administrative court ordered the mayor of Albertville to sign and issue a building permit for a private school run by Milli Gorus (CIMG), an Islamist organisation with ties to Turkey, the daily Le Figaro reported, citing information from Frederic Burnier-Framboret, mayor of Albertville, a commune in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region.

This is the same Islamist organisation that is involved in the construction in Strasbourg s Eyyub Sultan mosque, financed in part by French taxpayers money and supported by the city s leaders, even though most of the locals disagree with city hall s decision. Moreover, Milli Gorus has left the fold by quitting the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM), because it refused to sign a government-sponsored charter laying down that the values of the French Republic take precedence over the doctrines of Islam.

Albertville s mayor says the school is designed to have 16 classrooms, a canteen, a kitchen and a gym, with a total capacity for 400 students, which means one third of the town s 1200 students can go there. Frederic Burnier-Framboret says the new school is bound to have drastic repercussions on the other schools in town. He expects that state-owned institutions will have to cancel classes because of the insufficient number of students.

Since 2014, the commune of Albertville – which boasts around 19 thousand residents – has been the home of a mosque, which also belongs to Milli Gorus, so the commune s leaders are concerned that the new school will disproportionately increase Muslim influence.

A potential solution to the problem, according to local politicians, is for parliament to adopt relevant legal regulations to enable mayors to prevent the establishment of institutions by any association led or influenced by foreign powers.
