After the leader of the protest was attacked by someone in the crowd, he called off the rally before the nightly curfew.
Participants in the „revolutionary” demonstration, according to a ZDF report, planned to march from Hermannplatz to the Kreuzberg district, but police had to ward off violent attacks from crowds in the Neukolln district.

According to the Suddeutsche Zeitung, marchers were chanting coronavirus-denial slogans, waving images of Che Guevara and carrying other far-left slogans and symbols on their banners. Some groups hurled stones and bottles at police and dragged garbage bins into the street and set them on fire. Flaming roadblocks were reported in rapid succession in various locations, which police have managed to extinguishe with water cannons.
The officers attempt to remove agressive demonstrators from the crowd has led to some violent encounters.
According to the authorities estimate, some 8,000 protesters took part in the far-left demonstration purportedly held against racism, capitalism and the government s wage policy. Police spokesman Thilo Cablitz said most of the protestors conduct was in gross breach of pandemic-related rules and regulations.
Berlin police chief Barbara Slowik said law enforcement officers made a total of 240 arrests in the wake of Saturday night s clashes. Out of the 5,600 officers on duty that day, at least 30 were injured.
Fully, around 30,000 people are estimated to have taken part in the protests across Berlin.
