The doctor who kept fetal remains

The abortion doctor stored over two thousand medically preserved fetal remains in boxes, but authorities will likely never find out about the backgound of the horrific scene.

The investigation into the horrific case was closed without meaningful answers and as the perpetrator was already dead, no one was held accountable. Now, however, the video recordings made on the spot have been revealed.

The case began in the fall of 2019, when the family of the deceased doctor made a shocking discovery while going through the items in their relative s garage. It turned out that the man kept the fetuses after the abortions he performed, and stored them in his garage. Police were stunned to find more than 2,400 remains in boxes and other containers on Klopfer s property.

The doctor had performed abortions at his own clinics, until his medical license was suspended in 2015, after he had failed to report an abortion provided to a 13-year-old girl. It also turned out that the man, who had been practicing since the 70s, had a controverisal reputation.

The doctor s family knew nothing about the horrors, as Klopfer kept the remains in his garage and his car. The county sheriff said he had never seen anything like that in his 31-year career. Since Klopfer had already been dead by the time of the shocking discovery and the investigation was over, no arrests were made, but the fetuses were given a proper funeral.

Now that the investigation has ended, footage and images taken at the scene have been released. Viewers can get an impression what inspectors saw on the spot and what horrors they had to face at the doctor s house.

It is unclear what could have been the doctor s motivation to keep the aborted babies. A former colleague of his said that Klopfer could have kept the fetuses as trophies to remember them. Klopfer did not take the trouble „to do the proper technique on a basic procedure, but yet saved fetal tissue in a very methodical, scientific, tracking way,” Dr Geoffrey Cly said. Fetal remains were preserved in chemical substances or stored in refrigerated packaging in some cases.

Klopfer, a German national, revealed in an interview before his death that the fire-bombing of the German city of Dresden during World War II was critical in forming his opinion of human nature. He survived the bombing as a child and many dead bodies were found in the city only years later – just as it happened with the babies in his garage.
