Hungarian government to launch national consultation on sanctions
The government has accepted the proposal of the ruling Fidesz party group and will launch a national consultation on the sanctions, PM Viktor Orban announced on his social media on Wednesday.
“The government has been meeting since this morning, with the issue of energy prices topping the agenda. Brussels forced the energy sanctions on the member states, prompting energy prices to skyrocket,” the premier said.
„At that time, Brussels promised that the sanctions will end the war and will hurt the aggressor more than the EU member states. Instead, all citizens of Europe today are paying a sanctions surcharge for energy,”
Mr Orban continued, and announced a government survey dubbed the national consultation on the sanctions against Russia, so that the people can also express their opinions about them. „I ask everyone to say their opinion, as we can only end energy price hikes through joint action,” the Hungarian prime minister concluded his message.
