Marine Le Pen: "Massive immigration" behind latest killing of police officer
With Macron in office, there is no place in France where people can feel safe, said Marine Le Pen, who reacted to the killing of yet another police officer. The leader of the right-wing National Rally has blamed immigration for the latest anti-police murder.
On Wednesday, France witnessed the killing of yet another policeman during an anti-narcotics operation, when a man opened fire at law enforcement officers. The perpetrator shot 36-year-old Eric Masson in the chest and abdomen, who died of his injuries on the spot. The assailant fled the scene on a kick scooter and police have launched an intensive search operation to track him down. For now, he is still at large.

Authorities known little about the perpetrator, who is assumed to be a drug dealer. According to some press reports, news network i24news has shared a picture of the man on its Twitter account, but the image was soon removed. A client of the dealer, who he was doing business with on the scene, was detained and is held as the prime witness.

Right-wing National Rally party President Marine Le Pen also spoke about the case, stressing that there is no place in President Macron s France where people can feel safe.
„Assassiner un policier ne fait plus peur aux criminels car ils ne craignent ni la justice, ni l autorité de l État. Je serai la Présidente qui incarnera la restauration de l autorité de l État face à un Président qui n a eu de cesse de se complaire dans le laxisme.” pic.twitter.com/SGsLk9Phu3

She also underlined that criminals are no longer afraid to slay an officer, because they have no fear from the judiciary. Ms Le Pen added that the current incident can be linked to massive immigration.
On Wednesday French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin also wrote about the case on social media, saying the interior ministry was mourning the death of the occiver. Mr Darmanin gave an interview to Le Figaro on Thursday, saying that those who buy drugs are in fact sponsoring murderers.
