"Damn, rotten Jewish investor," a left-wing mayor swore at a meeting, an audio recording of which has come to light. She is not the first politician supported by the whole opposition to get involved in an anti-Semitic scandal.

Krisztina Baranyi has been the mayor of Budapest s 9th district for a year. Last year, the entire opposition supported her in the local elections.

However, „the left-wing rainbow coalition standing behind her has already disintegrated. Ms Baranyi has turned the district into a bloody battlefield, and turned her confidantes against herself for her own interests. The shocking anti-Semitic remark slipped out of her mouth during a debate among left-wing politicians,” wrote the tenyek.hu portal, which obtained the recording.

The dispute apparently erupted over the sale of municipal plots.

„That s right, so let s decide now. We won t sell the land, we don t have any revenue from it, but the damn, rotten Jewish investors can t build more than 1,200 square metres…” the left-wing mayor said.

Baranyi responded to the recording by saying „quite the contrary: I confonted my discussion partners about their possible anti-Semitism.”

However, this has been refuted by the leftist-liberal meeting partners in several statements.

They said „no anti-Semitic statement was made during that meeting,” and that „accusing allies of anti-Semitism is clearly a sign of the mayor s inability to assess the weight of her own words for the umpteenth time, and to take responsibility not only for her individual decisions but for her words uttered in her weak moments.”

However, Krisztina Baranyi is not the only left-wing politician supported by the entire Hungarian opposition to be recently involved in an anti-Semitic scandal.

An interim parliamentary election was held in October, where the leftist-liberal opposition also supported a joint candidate. They were not dissuaded even by fact that their candidate, Laszlo Biro, had previously made harsh anti-Semitic remarks on social media.

In one post, he wrote, „My dog goes wild when those earlocked Jews go past my house. I have friends working in the hotel industry, they tell me what s going on.” According to the report of the Magyar Nemzet newspaper, Mr Biro referred to religious tourism, to Polish, Russian and Israeli Hasidic Jewish visitors staying in hotels in Szerencs and the surrounding area.

In another post, the politician wrote that after assuming power, the German National Socialists have achieved order and economic stability in Germany. „In a single election term, unemployment was eliminated and usurious Jewish bank capital was removed from the economy,” Biro remarked, adding that „cosmopolitan Zionist circles were already determined at the time to destroy Adolf Hitler s regime.” Besides, the politician has also described Budapest as Jewdapest in another infamous comment.
