The Polish premier started out by stressing that Christmas is the most family-oriented of all the holidays, adding however, that the pandemic has upended day-to-day lives.

„The pandemic has turned our lives upside down,” PM Morawiecki said.

He stressed that the number of Covid-19 infections and deaths was still high and urged people not to treat these figures as mere statistics, because there are people behind the numbers. Mr Morawiecki said the vaccine was near, adding that the National Immunisation Program was likely to launch this year.

The Polish premier asked people to celebrate Christmas in small groups this year. He said people now have a chance to present each other with the most valuable gift, which is to look out and care for each other s health.

PM Morawiecki recalled that Europe was bound by coronavirus-related restrictions and extended his condolences to those who have lost their loved ones during the pandemic.

„I profoundly believe that next year will be better for all of us,” PM Mateusz Morawiecki said, concluding his video message.
