Viktor Orban thanked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for his congratulations on his election victory. In his letter, Hungary's prime minister also called for the further development of relations between the two countries, PM Orban's press chief told Hungary's state news agency (MTI) on Thursday.

„Today, Europe today is facing challenges that make cooperation between member states on the basis of mutual respect more important than ever,” Viktor Orban wrote.

PM Orban assured the German chancellor that he is ready to work with him, saying that he regards the development of relations between Hungary and Germany strategically important, Mr Orban’s press chief said, citing the Hungarian premier’s words.

According to a statement posted on the German federal government’s website earlier, Olaf Scholz congratulated Viktor Orban on his repeated success in Hungary’s parliamentary election and wished him good luck in performing his tasks in the future.
