PM Orban: we say yes to peace and no to further sanctions

The Hungarian delegation had meetings with leaders of Western Balkan states in the morning, with Ukraine and the war situation on the agenda for the afternoon, the Hungarian premier said.

„Tomorrow, I think, we will thoroughly discuss Europe’s economic situation, which is not ideal at all,” Viktor Orban said.

The prime minister emphasized:

„Europe is suffering. It is suffering from inflation and economic crisis amidst the war. On top of everything else, more and more ideas of sanctions are emerging and laid on the table. It is important to note, however, that besides the war, the sanctions are responsible for the economic woes.”

He said that peace, not sanctions, are needed now, as the only antidote to war-time inflation is peace.

„We say yes to the EU membership of Ukraine, we say yes to peace and we say no to further sanctions,”

Viktor Orban said, concluding his message.
