Commissioner Tibor Navracsics held a press briefing in Budapest after the European Commission had approved Hungary’s recovery plan.

During Wednesday’s press conference, the Hungarian minister said the EC’s decision came as no surprise, the Hungarian Origo portal writes.

The Commission recommends Hungary’s part of the recovery plan for approval, and this is a big achievement, Mr Navracsics pointed out. The Hungarian national plan is among the greatest, he added, emphasizing that

the process of adopting the national plan lasted for one and a half years, and it has finally come to fruition.

The minister also stressed that

they trust that the European Commission’s present decision opens the way to an agreement about the cohesion funds.

Regarding the suspension, he said that it is nothing new. He trusted that the commitments for the next period will be fulfilled by the government, and they can convince the Commission and the Council to drop the suspension, Origo quoted the minister as saying.
