Paolo Del Grosso, the deputy prosecutor of the municipality of Lecco, ordered a detailed investigation into the drug cartel between March and July 2021. Anti-drug units from the neighbouring Como and Monza provinces were also involved in the investigations, led by the deputy prosecutor, into the dealings of the network.

According to police, the suspects have already sold 315 doses of heroin, weighing 300 grams each, and a further 1,750 doses of hashish weighing over 2.5 kilograms. The drug cartel has made a profit of around 500,000 euros from the sale of drugs.

The operation has uncovered two other individuals who were subject to deportation proceedings but escaped from the authorities. In a recent statement, police pointed out that their successful operation required the cooperation of the public: locals have often alerted the authorities when they saw that the drug dealers’ cars had entered the woods, and they also helped in identifying the cars of their ‘clients’
