Dozens of Vulnerable Elderly People Abused by Syrian Man

A 22-year-old Syrian man, who arrived in Sweden as a refugee and later obtained Swedish citizenship, is facing trial in Örebro. Abdulrahman Al Khleef Almasalmeh is accused of abusing, torturing, and humiliating at least 13 elderly individuals while working as a home caregiver.

The allegations are based on mobile phone videos that the man reportedly recorded himself. Al Khleef Almasalmeh arrived in Sweden in 2015 during the European migration crisis, accompanied by his parents and five siblings. He was naturalized three years later, which prevented his deportation despite his criminal record.

He has a history of criminal activity, having been part of a gang and convicted of robbery and the humiliation of several Swedish youths with firearms. Despite this background, he was employed by the Örebro home care service last March, a decision made by the head of the institution.

The Swedish home care service hired a Syrian criminal to care for the elderly, which ultimately led to him filming himself abusing and torturing them while shouting „Allahu Akbar.”

Now, Al Khleef Almasalmeh is standing trial. According to the Samnytt portal, the investigation involves a total of 15 individuals, the oldest being a 99-year-old man. One video shows a 92-year-old Swedish woman, to whom the 22-year-old man points and says, „You look like a monkey!” He then grabs her nose, pulls it, and emits a shrill sound. He further insults her in Arabic, saying, „You whore! I swear, I will curse you!” and „Eat shit, you whore!”

In other footage, he tortures an 81-year-old man, swearing at him, and then douses the elderly man with ice-cold water in the shower, shouting in Arabic, „I swear by Allah, I will freeze you to death.”

The videos were discovered during another police investigation on the man’s mobile phone, as reported by Nius.de. At the end of November last year, Al Khleef Almasalmeh was temporarily suspended from his position with full pay. However, he returned to work on January 2 this year. The head of the institution stated to the police, „Since we cannot learn more about the investigation, we cannot suspend him for more than a month.”
