Europe's 'Destructive Moral Ideas' May Jeopardize The World

J.D. Vance has cautioned that France and the United Kingdom may present a security threat to the United States in the future, if ideologies he characterises as "closely linked to Islamists" gain political traction.

According to the Vice President of the United States, „individuals with ties to Islamists or who sympathise with them currently hold positions in European countries.”

In an interview with UnHerd, a British online platform, Mr. Vance remarked that due to the backlash against immigration, Europe „lacks a proper self-image.”

„There are currently individuals who are Islamist sympathisers or have connections to Islamists holding positions in European countries,” he noted, without specifying whom he was referring to. He added that it is „absolutely” possible for Islamist-aligned views to come to power in a major European city, such as Paris or London, within 15 years.

Mr. Vance asserted that the issue directly impacts Washington, as France and the United Kingdom are nuclear powers.

„If they allow themselves to be overwhelmed by very destructive moral ideas, they risk enabling nuclear weapons to fall into the hands of those who could cause very serious harm to the United States,” Vance stated, adding that Washington must engage in „certain moral conversations with Europe.”

Earlier this month, the Trump administration unveiled a new security strategy that painted a bleak picture of Europe’s political and economic trajectory.

The document emphasised the United States’ ambition to restore „Europe’s greatness” on a continent that, according to Washington, faces economic decline and „the grim prospect of the disappearance of civilisation,” provoking widespread resistance in European capitals.

Europe is unwilling to confront the danger

J.D. Vance’s cautionary words are echoed by national security expert Eran M. Teboul, who wrote in an article:

„The long-term strategy of the Muslim Brotherhood exploits democracy, and Europe continues to refuse to confront the threat.”

One of the leading intellectuals of the Muslim Brotherhood, the late Yusuf al-Qaradawi, stated in 2007 in Doha, Qatar: „Islam will conquer Europe without the sword and without fighting. The conquest will be realised through da’wah and ideology,” Teboul recalled, also highlighting that in his writings, Qaradawi asserted that true believers must „spread Islam to the best of their ability and increase their numbers.”

This prophecy was based on a thorough assessment of the structure of European countries. Qaradawi understood their vulnerabilities and how to exploit them, the expert warned.

Da’wah encompasses education, charity, and social assistance aimed at bringing others closer to Islam. This ideology is propagated by religious and political institutions, with its echoes also heard on media platforms.

Qaradawi was offered the global leadership position of the Muslim Brotherhood twice but declined. This approach served Qaradawi’s successors well until November 24, when Donald Trump designated the Muslim Brotherhood and its organisations as a terrorist group.

Over the past thirty years, Egyptian and Emirati authorities have warned Western officials about the Brotherhood’s dangers, which were emerging in London and elsewhere, only to be met with the response that there was no evidence to support their claims.

However, the United States has thoroughly investigated the matter and is likely to present information that sharpens existing concerns, potentially leading to an expansion of the measures currently outlined in the presidential directive, emphasised the security policy expert, who also noted that it is not just the White House addressing the issue. Republican Senator Ted Cruz submitted a bill to the American Congress in July advocating for a more robust response against the Muslim Brotherhood, which is currently undergoing active legislative proceedings. Governor Greg Abbott has taken state-level action against the Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, subsequently writing to Treasury Secretary Bessent to urge federal action.

The Muslim Brotherhood is more deeply rooted in Europe

The Muslim Brotherhood is more entrenched in Europe, and European governments lack the power and boldness that characterised the Trump administration and the like-minded majority in Congress and the Supreme Court. Europe aligns precisely with Qaradawi’s prophecy, the expert highlighted.

The fundamental freedoms and rights afforded by European democracies facilitate the spread of Islam. Religious freedom is exploited to permit hate-filled sermons that, even when highlighted, seem too sensitive for police and courts to address. Freedom of the press allows for the dissemination of favourable messages. The freedom of association is exploited by charitable organisations and political action groups, while the right to privacy offers protection against hostile activities in the host country.

Eran M. Teboul emphasised that an increasing number of candidates and political decision-makers are relying on Islamists to win elections.

Liberal principles aimed at protecting minorities, promoting multiculturalism, and rejecting racism have all contributed to creating conditions that some Islamists explicitly claim could lead to the conquest of Europe, the expert wrote.
