Blog post exposing Hungary's international discrediting falls victim to censorship
The article was only available for a few hours. The blog portal has deleted the post on the grounds that it goes against the site's basic principles.
The French blog post, in which the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers’ (WIN-IFRA) CEO details how his organisation coordinates the smear campaigns of various international media outlets against Hungary was only available for a short few hours, daily Magyar Nemzet writes.
According to the Hungarian portal, the blog site named ‘Club de Mediapart’ deleted the post on the grounds that it ran counter to the portal’s basic principles.
In the post, which has been rendered unavailable, WIN-IFRA’s CEO says, among other things, that his organisation – which counts in its ranks such media outlets as The Financial Times, The Economist, The New York Times, Le Monde, Die Welt, El País, Il Corriere Della Sera and La Repubblica – provides services (like the protection of members, or assistance with business development), and also disseminates information, opinions and views via its system. However, this information can, in the words of the chairman, be „financed” by advocacy groups and lobbyists active in a variety of fields. In the case of Hungary, these are articles that often originate from privately-owned foundations such as the Open Society Foundations funded by well-known US businessman George Soros, who is highly active in politics.
