Evacuation efforts for LGBTQ Afghans
The government is assisting in the evacuation of LGBT Afghans, with the first group having already arrived in the host country.
The LGBTQ community in the UK has hailed the arrival of the first group of 29 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Afghan evacuees assisted in leaving the country by the UK. The group arrived on British soil with the help of the British foreign secretary and two LGBTQ rights groups, the Canadian Rainbow Railroad and the British Stonewall.
Further LGBT Afghan evacuees are expected to arrive in the UK in the coming months.
