Politicians Stoke War Psychosis With Survival Kits And Bunker Talk

Statements invoking war are now a constant occurrence from leading European politicians, while governments across the continent stoke tension with talk of survival kits, instruction manuals and refurbished bunkers. The war psychosis has reached fever pitch.

Across the United Kingdom, households have been asked to prepare three-day survival kits in the event of a possible future conflict. This is part of a wider European “preparedness strategy” aimed at ensuring that citizens remain self-sufficient in emergencies.

The initiative was launched by Hadja Lahbib, the EU Commissioner for Crisis Management and Preparedness, based on the recommendations of Sauli Niinisto, the former President of Finland, set out in a report to the European Commission.

“The threats facing today’s Europe are more complex than ever, and they are all interconnected,”

– Ms. Lahbib said, and she also stressed that preparing for emergencies and thinking through different scenarios helps to prevent panic, referring to the toilet paper shortages experienced during the early stages of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The strategy calls on the EU to establish strategic reserves and stockpile essential resources, including firefighting aircraft, medical, energy and transport equipment, as well as specialised tools to counter chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats. Some EU lawmakers have proposed distributing preparedness handbooks to every household to help citizens understand what exactly they ought to do in times of crisis.

Several European countries already maintain similar preparedness measures. Sweden recommends that households stockpile water, high-energy foods, blankets, alternative heating methods and battery-powered radios.

Norvégia azt javasolja, hogy nukleáris baleset esetére halmozzák fel a nem létfontosságú gyógyszereket, beleértve a jódtablettákat is, amelyek radioaktív fertőzés esetén alkalmazhatóak.

Norway advises keeping non-essential medicines in reserve in the event of a nuclear accident, including iodine tablets that can be used in cases of radioactive contamination.

Germany has asked its citizens to convert basements and cellars, as well as garages and other storage spaces into safe shelters, and new homes are required to include bunkers – an obligation already introduced in Poland.

War Psychosis Fuelled By Political Declarations

While preparing the general population for certain emergencies may be justified, whipping up war psychosis has, in recent months, become the mission of Western European politicians.

Just a few days ago, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared that Ukraine’s war is Europe’s war as well, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned at the United Nations General Assembly that direct conflict for Europe would be inevitable if Russia were not stopped.

Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, also told the UN:

“This is not Ukraine’s struggle alone. It is a struggle for all the principles that we all hold dear,”

– he added..

Meanwhile, in her State of the Union speech delivered in mid-September, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen declared that “Europe is at war.”
