The migrant stabbed his victims with a smile; according to the city councilor, we should be proud of diversity
A man stabbed two people in Edinburgh. After the attack, however, the local city councilor praised diversity.
A man was arrested in Edinburgh, Scotland, after stabbing two people near a primary school. Scottish police did not disclose the suspect’s identity and stated that they do not consider the incident to be an act of terrorism. However, reports on social media, including those by independent journalist Andy Ngo, repeatedly described the alleged perpetrator as a migrant. Photos and videos of the man in question were also shared, and he clearly had a Middle Eastern appearance, although it has not been confirmed whether he was born in the UK or abroad. Alex Armstrong, a reporter for GB News, had further information and referred to him as a „32-year-old man,” writes the Hungarian Conservative.
What particularly drew attention to the story was a photo taken after the suspect barricaded himself in a nearby building and appeared to be smiling through the window.
He had previously been apprehended while wandering down the street with two large knives in his hands.

According to a report by the BBC, police were called to the scene at 8:25 a.m. after a stabbing incident.
After the suspect barricaded himself in, a standoff lasting about eight hours ensued before police managed to break into the building and remove the man.
The two stabbed victims survived the attack and are being treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sun reports, based on an eyewitness account, that the stabber tried to enter a nearby nursery before the attack, but fortunately passersby chased him away. Another eyewitness claims to have seen the man near the nursery, primary school, and playground, suggesting that he was originally looking for child victims. The actual ages of the victims have not been disclosed by the press, but they are referred to as a man and a woman, suggesting that they are adults.
City council leader says we should be proud of diversity
City Councilor Jane Meagher continued to celebrate diversity after the attack. In a statement issued after the suspect was taken into custody, she said she was „deeply shocked” by what had happened and expressed her appreciation to the emergency services and council staff, according to RMX News.
„Moments like these remind us of the need for unity—and the importance of community spirit and tolerance,” she said. As she put it:
„Edinburgh is a proud, inclusive, and diverse city. Our greatest strength lies in the people who live here—people from all walks of life, cultures, and backgrounds—and we all have a role to play in ensuring that this remains the case.”
The response from Edinburgh City Council to Monday’s stabbing spree that left two people in the hospital has been to praise diversity, calling it the city’s „biggest strength.”
