Europeans have had enough of immigration
The vast majority of Western Europeans believe that too many immigrants have arrived in their countries over the past decade, and that their governments have mismanaged the issue. Many think immigration has had a net negative effect on their country.
A recent YouGov survey conducted in seven countries, including Germany and Sweden, asked people about their views on migration. The numbers speak for themselves, the Swedish news portal Samnytt reported.
In Germany, 81% of respondents said immigration levels were too high. In Spain, this figure was 80%, while in Sweden, 73% felt the same way.
Danes were the least likely to say that their country had received too many immigrants, but even there, a 55% majority believed migration levels were excessive. In all of the surveyed countries, a plurality of respondents also agreed that immigration had mostly negative impacts on their country. Italians were the most critical (56%), followed closely by Germans (55%). The YouGov data also reveals that
Europeans now consider immigration one of the most pressing issues their countries face.
In Sweden, the issue ranks third, on the heels of immigration-related crime and healthcare.
