Hypocrisy at its best: Wealthy Hungarian leftist politician urging to save energy

According to Kata Tutto, lower energy consumption will bring peace to Europe, so the deputy mayor of Budapest's leftist administration is asking people to save on energy by heating, cooling, cooking, and driving less.

The leftist Budapest city administration would join a Brussels initiative to get people to heat, cool, cook, and drive less so they use less energy. Deputy Mayor Kata Tutto also spoke about the Cities Energy Saving Sprint project in a radio interview, Mediaworks News Center (Hircentrum) reported.

When asked by the radio presenter which high consumption companies owned by the capital are similarly trying to conserve energy, Ms Tutto mentioned the central heating company first.

The Budapest central heating company heats 220,000 homes, this is obviously the largest portion of consumption. Public transport in Budapest, if you think about it, now obviously fuel is part of the problem, like the buses, the tram, the metro, the trolleybus, they consume a lot of electricity, and not at a reduced price,

the deputy mayor said, adding street lighting to the list.

Regarding the Cities Energy Saving Sprint project Ms Tutto opined that it could solve not only the issue of rising energy costs, but also bring peace, and explained that if Europe buys less energy from Russia, the war will end sooner. It is worth noting that this is a speculative idea, and many experts believe that the Russians will continue with the war until they achieve their goals. The reduction in energy shipments to Europe is not a particularly big problem for Moscow, as it results in the raising of prices of energy that is then sold on the Asian market, instead of in Europe. The EU is practically shooting itself in the foot with the sanctions, and even asking the public to scrimp and save, essentially for nothing.

In Brussels and Western Europe, austerity has been a hot topic for months. Typically, very wealthy politicians come forward with all sorts of ideas. It seems that the Left in Hungary is also following this pattern, as Kata Tutto is the former partner of one of the richest men in the country, Tamas Leisztinger, a billionaire close to the Socialist Party, and the mother of his children. Another example of the wealth Ms Tutto is living in is a video she posted on Instagram last year, showing her riding a horse out of the sea on a Greek beach. This is not a low budget form of recreation, it could cost over a thousand euros.

Ms Tutto is now asking everyone to save energy.

We want to involve the public and the people of Budapest in this, so that everyone should think about where they can use a little less energy. Whether it’s by reducing car use or rethinking home heating, cooling, and cooking habits, everyone should look at the amount of energy they use and how they can reduce it,

the deputy mayor said, who lives a life of luxury. “If everyone thinks a little bit about what is bearable, it is not just about optimising their energy bills now, but it is about contributing to peace in Europe. I think this is an important issue,” Mediaworks News Center quoted Ms Tutto.
