A Sudanese man was indicted a few days ago in Sweden for committing a brutal murder and rape this May. As details have emerged, authorities now know more about the motives of the migrant, who apparently killed his victim out of rage, thinking he was racist because of a baseball cap.

Sudanese national Abubaker Mohamad Awad was indicted in Sweden on Friday for an incident this May. Awad attacked a young boy with a knife, killed another and raped a girl in shocking circumstances in Harnosand this spring. Although his trial begins on 6 October, details of the investigation are continuing to emerge.

Awad committed the crime at a house party thrown by 19-year-old Tommie Lindh in his family home. The 23-year-old Sudanese man showed up at the event and decided to stay even after everyone was had gone. Instead of going home like the others, he began sexually harassing a girl, entering the room where she was trying to sleep.

He then started looking around the house, while others were asleep, and he spotted a cap on a shelf displaying an SD logo, shorthand for the right-wing anti-immigration Swedish Democrats party. The migrant became furious and began accusing the girl, as well as the host, of being racist, even though Tommie s shelf boasted a bunch of other items implying an affiliation to other political parties, such as the Social Democrats.

The girl tried to explain that Tommie keeps these items on his shelves because he has an interest in politics, but Abubaker would not listen. At this point, the girl signalled for help, but when a friend of hers rushed to her aid, he was stabbed by the migrant. She then ran for help to Tommie. They alerted the police and hid in the bathroom.

Abubaker soon found them there and stabbed Tommie in the back, chest and neck several times with a knife. The migrant then raped the girl, with Tommie lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

It took the police nearly two hours to arrive at the house where they arrested Abubaker, who pretended not to know anything about what had happened to Tommie. The migrant expressed no remorse during the procedures, according to news reports. At the police station, he laughed at the photos presented to him and showed hand signs gangs use.

Initially, Abubaker did not confess to the rape and claimed that he had no memory of stabbing his victims. With time, however, he broke down and confessed everything. He said he had committed the crime because he did not like what he saw in Tommie s house and wanted to hurt the boy.

It also turned out that the migrant has already had some brushes with the law as his criminal record includes the sexual harassment of an underage Swedish girl, shoplifting and other drug-related offences.
