Hungary will adopt the European Parliament’s asset declaration scheme, which essentially also happens to coincide with German rules, Fidesz’s group leader – Mate Kocsis – announced on social media.

As the Hungarian declaration system has been drawing much criticism for many years and even decades, changing it is worthwhile, regardless of whether these critical comments were well-founded or not, the politician points out in his post.

Unfortunately, Brussels’ use of double standards against Hungary has become part of our everyday life, so it appears to be the most expedient to incorporate EP rules word for word into Hungarian law. The same is used in, for example, Germany, so disputes may be avoided at least in this area in the future,

Mr Kocsis writes.

The proposal submitted by the ruling party applies to members of parliament and those defined under the law applicable to MPs, „but we will establish in the course of this year the same rules for all other individuals (such as mayors and local government representatives) subject to the obligation to declare their assets, listed in the separate sectoral laws,” the politician emphasized in his post.
