The only way out of the recent scandal for the government is to call a snap election, V4NA was told by Igor Janushev, the general secretary of North Macedonia’s largest opposition party VMRO-DPMNE. He said since the highest levels of government have been implicated in the Racket case, it is impossible to have the current government comply with the rule of law or European norms.

„This is particularly true in light of Zaev s statements at yesterday s press conference, where—in addition to his outbursts against a popular journalist, whom he merely called „vain”, and his derogatory remarks about a sexual minority he has previously supported and protected—the prime minister also attempted to sacrifice special prosecutor Katica Janeva,” Igor Janushev recalled.

He added that they would not allow them „to get away from this scandal by using a few people as scapegoats, since these events could not have occurred without the involvement of the highest circles of government. This is exactly what we saw on the video recording, in which one of the detainees directly implicates Zaev, claiming that the premier had known about everything, and had given him the green light to commit the crime.”
