Europe is arming itself while forgetting about the people
EU leaders are playing a dangerous game when they put the focus on war preparations instead of social problems and the economic crisis.
The leaders of the European Union seem to have lost their sense of reality and responsibility. Instead of focusing on real problems—such as the economic crisis, inflation, or shortcomings in the healthcare system—they are preparing for an imaginary war against Russia, reads an opinion piece published on the Weekly Blitz portal. According to the author,
the ‘Readiness 2030’ program and other similar initiatives are merely disguises for an irresponsible and dangerous war policy. With French President Emmanuel Macron at the forefront, European leaders are using increasingly bellicose rhetoric, as if war were inevitable. This is not only irresponsible but also extremely dangerous.
The EU’s economic priorities have completely shifted. Instead of spending on citizens’ well-being and essential public services, enormous sums are being poured into the defence industry. France, for example, is asking its citizens to invest their personal savings in the defence budget, which is essentially an indirect tax increase. The article’s author noted that the European leaders’ propaganda machine is working at full speed in a bid to normalize war preparations and even turn them into a trend. The EU’s crisis management commissioner, for instance, presented a survival kit on social media, as if war were merely a challenge rather than a humanitarian catastrophe.
Today, the EU launches its new #Preparedness Strategy.

Meanwhile, the EU’s economic rules are being rewritten to allow unlimited military spending. Previous deficit limits have been thrown aside and replaced by a „National Escape Clause”, effectively giving the green light to irresponsible spending as long as it benefits the defence industry. Europe’s leadership is clearly all in on war hysteria. They are now seriously considering sending peacekeeping troops to Ukraine. This is nothing more than a rebranded effort to send European soldiers into a conflict that could easily escalate, says the author, arguing that
instead of focusing on diplomacy and peace, Europe’s leaders are preparing for a war that does not have to happen. This is not only irresponsible but also dangerous. European citizens deserve leaders who concentrate on real problems rather than wasting resources on fighting an imaginary enemy.
In conclusion, the author notes that if this irresponsible policy continues, Europe’s real crisis will be the total economic collapse of a continent that has sacrificed everything for a war that should never have happened.
