"Girls wear headscarves out of fear"
A school principal writes about the dramatic conditions in Vienna schools in his book.
In his recently published book, Viennese secondary school director Christian Klar gives a sobering account of the conditions prevalent in the schools in the Austrian capital, the Catholic news portal Kath.net points out.
„Islam is now pervasive in Vienna’s schools,” says Christian Klar, who in an interview with oe24 news portal, describes the alarming situation prevalent in these education institutions.
As he stated,
some girls feel compelled to wear headscarves out of fear, while others wear veils covering their entire bodies out of Islamic conviction.
Klar forbids this in his own school and wants a national regulation. „I would very much like to have a very clear, strict policy on, for example, dress codes, which would be publicised in the media, to make it clear to everyone living in Austria that this is not what we want,” he says.
The school principal’s book, whose title is literally „What’s going on in our schools” in English, was published on August 30 and contains shocking reports, according to the Catholic news portal Kath.net, which highlights some of the cases.
One student, for example, threatened to stab the school headmaster, while another boy, who had actually committed a crime, refused to talk to anyone but male police officers.
Klar reports on students who demand an Islamic prayer room at school but have zero tolerance for other religions. There is also the case of five young girls who went to school with their heads covered after suffering mass sexual harassment. On the advice of their parents, they wanted to protect themselves from further such incidents.

The tone of Klar’s book is calm and objective, but he advocates for clear and strict rules:
„If we want to preserve our secular society, we must preserve it. And intolerance must not be countered by tolerance,”
he points out.
