The U.S. Senate is investigating whether Joe Biden was in control of his actions when he was President of the United States. It may not be an exaggeration to say that the entire world is questioning whether a man who shakes hands with the air, sniffs little girls’ hair, and gets lost at his own events and even in the White House was truly capable of making critical decisions regarding Ukraine, China, and Russia. Meanwhile, Democrats are boycotting the Senate hearing on Biden’s fitness for office, while Republicans are demanding answers regarding the use of the so-called autopen and the former president’s health.

Biden left office in January, but after the release of the audio recording of his interview with former special counsel Robert Hur and the disclosure of his cancer diagnosis, a growing number of questions are arising about his mental state and decline during his time in office. This has drawn attention to the decisions he made in the final days of his presidential term and before. The Senate has officially launched an investigation into Joe Biden’s cognitive state during his presidency after multiple former advisers admitted that Biden was often confused and disoriented.

According to sources from Fox News and The Hill, the investigation, which originally focused on the Biden family’s finances, has now expanded to include Biden’s mental faculties as well.

Meanwhile the House Oversight Committee, chaired by Republican Representative James Comer of Kentucky, is conducting an investigation into whether Biden’s mental decline was covered up. The primary focus is on whether members of Biden’s inner circle knowingly conspired to conceal the former president’s mental state and whether they used any means to bypass him when issuing key orders and decisions, particularly through the use of the autopen device, which replicates the president’s signature.

A few individuals close to Biden have voluntarily agreed to testify in the case. Their testimonies have raised serious questions about who was actually making executive branch decisions during the Biden presidency and how those decisions were made.

The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing in mid June titled “Unfit to Serve: How the Biden Cover-Up Endangered America and Undermined the Constitution.” where three expert witnesses testified: John Harrison, a law professor at the University of Virginia; Theodore Wold, a fellow at the Heritage Foundation; and Sean Spicer, White House Press Secretary under the first Trump administration.

The conservative Heritage Foundation Oversight Project first investigated the Biden administration’s use of the autopen in early 2025, finding that the same signature appeared on numerous executive orders and other official documents, while Biden’s signature on the document announcing his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race differed from the clearly machine-generated signature. The alleged cover-up of Biden’s deteriorating health was labeled a “constitutional crisis.”

Pardons Under Investigation
Biden used his final weeks in office to grant pardons to more than 1,500 people, which the White House described as the largest single-day act of clemency by any American president. The Department of Justice is reviewing the list of individuals pardoned by Biden amid concerns that he was using the autopen to sign documents automatically. In December 2024, Biden also pardoned his son, Hunter, after months of promising the American people that he would not do so.

However, in his final weeks, the former president personally signed (i.e. not using the autopen) only one pardon: the one granted to his son, Hunter.

Following an investigation led by Special Counsel David Weiss, Hunter Biden had been found guilty of three serious crimes, among them federal tax evasion, failing to pay at least $1.4 million in taxes. Before the trial, Hunter unexpectedly pleaded guilty.

In December 2024, the former president issued a general pardon for any crimes Hunter Biden “committed or may have committed” against the United States between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.

“From the day I took office, I declared that I would not interfere in the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word, even when I saw my son being selectively and unfairly persecuted,”

the former president had previously said, adding:

“I hope the American people understand why a father and a president made such a decision.”

Biden Undergoing Cancer Treatment

The former U.S. president was diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer in May.

“President Joe Biden was examined for a new prostate nodule after experiencing worsening urinary symptoms,”

Biden’s team said in a statement, adding that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer rated as Gleason score 9 (grade 5), with evidence of bone metastasis. The statement noted that although this is a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, allowing for effective treatment. The president and his family are reviewing treatment options with his doctors.

The announcement of the illness has fueled suspicions that Biden’s cancer was concealed during his presidency. The White House had previously disclosed only the removal of a cancerous skin lesion. The investigation into Biden’s mental decline has been expanded to now also examine when Biden first learned he had cancer.

James Comer, the Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has subpoenaed Joe Biden’s former physician, Kevin O’Connor, to testify regarding Biden’s condition.

“If you remember, Joe Biden said in an interview a few years ago that he had cancer. The White House quickly released a statement saying, ‘Oh, he misspoke,’” a Fox News commentator recalled, adding:

“Well, how many people do you know in the history of the world who accidentally said they had cancer when they actually didn’t?”

The statement, followed by its retraction, suggests there is evidence indicating that Joe Biden and the White House may have been hiding his illness for years.

Joe Biden has drawn attention not only for his gaffes, gibberish talk, stumbles and confused behavior. Some of his actions have sparked outrage. One such incident occurred when he started nibbling a little girl. The moment, which Biden considered a joke, shocked those present.
