Here come the EU's failures
"For years, we have been experiencing a complete failure of the system, which is the most evident in the area asylum and migration," Austrian politician Petra Steger said.
In an interview with media representatives in Strasbourg, Petra Steger, MEP of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO), described the work of the European Commission as disastrous.
„For years we have been experiencing a complete failure of the system, which is not so evident in any other area as in the area asylum and migration. Instead of paying corrupt or unstable countries outside Europe to prevent illegal migration, the EU must finally do its own homework and invest in its own external border protection,”
Steger said. He noted that the EU’s new migration commissioner, Magnus Brunner, will simply continue the failed policy of Ursula von der Leyen’s commission without criticism and will prove to be the real pillar of the uncontrolled Brussels immigration system. Thus, neither Brunner, nor the migration pact celebrated by the political mainstream, nor the recently announced amendment to the Return Directive will bring about the urgently needed paradigm shift. Petra Steger pointed out that individual nation states will be forced to act accordingly and withdraw from the EU asylum system, as recently announced by Hungary, the Netherlands and Poland. A future Austrian federal government should follow suit, she said.
The EU’s €500 million flood relief was simply electoral fraud
The FPO politician also pointed out that in the case of the flood relief, politicians from the Austrian People’s Party (OVP), together with the EU, initially presented themselves as the great saviours, and promised the Austrian population 500 million euros, only to admit a few weeks later that the money would not be paid. It is probably just a transfer of funds that Austria would be entitled to anyway,” Steger said.
He also noted that the recently approved €35 billion EU loan for Ukraine is yet another example of the EU’s completely flawed policy.
„In fact, it is nothing more than another billion-euro gift, as the EU is simply stepping in as a guarantor, promising Ukraine to pay back the money itself from the proceeds of Russian assets frozen in the economic war. The EU is thus clearly planning the long-term continuation of the sanctions regime against Russia, and is also preparing to prolong the bloodshed in Ukraine,”
Petra Steger explained.
