Talks with the Seniors’ Council has just ended, the Hungarian premier said in a video shared on his Facebook account. „As the past sixteen months were especially difficult for our elderly compatriots, we have considered what we can do for them,” he said.

He highlighted that the economy has successfully returned to the pre-pandemic growth level and is performing well. In November, all pensioners received a pension bonus worth 80 thousand Hungarian forints (nearly 220 euros), „but we don’t want to stop here,” he stressed.

Next year, pensions will be raised by 5 per cent and „the 13th month’s pension taken away by the left” will be reinstated, PM Orban said, adding that all retirees will receive the payment in February in line with the decree signed today.
