PM Orban: Brussels should not raise energy prices

Tensions are running high over rising energy prices, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in a video posted on social media from Brdo, Slovenia, where he attended an informal working dinner for EU heads of state and government.

„Everyone is criticizing the Commission, saying that the forecasted cost of implementing the whole green climate programme has proved to be erroneous, which is why Europe is suffering today – because of high energy prices,” PM Orban said in his latest video.

Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary will jointly make proposals for how to decrease energy prices, Mr Orban pointed out.

He stressed that at the same time „we will protest against any attempts to tax home owners under the guise of a climate protection proposal, because this is the clandestine plan that Brussels is working on.”

I hope that „we can put an end to this crazy idea during the Slovenian presidency,” Mr Orban concluded.
