At the meeting, the two prime ministers commemorated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and Hungary, as well as the reopening of the Lao embassy in Budapest last month. Hungary will raise its diplomatic representation in Vientiane to embassy level next year.

PM Orban was happy to say that even in these crisis-laden times, it is possible to continuously strengthen the economic cooperation between Hungary and Laos. In evaluating the political situation in the world, the two leaders agreed on the importance of an immediate ceasefire and peace negotiations regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.

„Cold water should be poured on the fire instead of oil,”

Bertalan Havasi, the Hungarian prime minister’s press chief, quoted from the meeting to Hungary’s state news agency (MTI).
