PM Orban: We must fight for the peace and security of Christian civilisation every day

Two decades on after the terrorist attacks in New York, we still remember with a heavy heart the thousands of innocent victims. On 11 September 2001, it became glaringly obvious that we must fight for the peace and security of Christian civilization day after day, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in a statement issued on the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York.

„After the sad events that happened twenty years ago, Hungary was one of the first countries in Europe to take up the fight against terrorism by providing support to our allies in NATO missions to the best of our ability,” the Hungarian prime minister writes.

Viktor Orban emphasized, “The European migration crisis of 2015 brought terror into Europe. What transpired in Afghanistan gives all of us cause for concern again. The level of security threats is escalating and instability in that region poses significant risks to Europe.”

„Hungary is defending Europe’s borders,” he added, emphasizing, „We are working to ensure that what happened twenty years ago in New York never happens again.”
