After receiving police and military leaders in his office, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said the government would like to express their appreciation by

giving police officers and soldiers a one-off sum equivalent to their six-monthly salary next year.

“In the coming months and years, we will be making further significant wage increases to keep our police officers and soldiers,” he added.

PM Orban said he thanked both police and military leaders on behalf of all Hungarians for „the fantastic work they have done this year”. He explained that without the police and soldiers, the country would not have been able to defend itself against the coronavirus.

„They even went into hospitals and took on healthcare tasks, but without them we would not have been able to stop the masses of migrants at the border either,” PM Viktor Orban said, adding that police and soldiers had stopped over a hundred thousand illegal border violators at the southern borders of Hungary.
