Germany s 2019 crime statistics suggest an over-representation of offenders without German passports, Alternative for Germany s (AfD) MP Gottfried Curio pointed out on Wednesday. According to the official figures, immigrants make up 12 per cent of Germany s population, but last year, 35 per cent of criminal offenders were foreign nationals. Of the 699,261 non-German suspects 38 per cent were people „with migrant background,” the statistics reveal.

The proportion of foreign suspects in violent crime cases was 37 per cent, and nearly 40 per cent in cases associated with murder, attempted murder or assassinations, which means more than one out of three cases were committed by migrants. The number of sexual offence cases increased to 8,189, about 36 per cent of which were committed by non-Germans. Considering offences such as resistance to official measures or attacking officials on duty, the proportion of foreign perpetrators was 31 per cent. Regarding attacks resulting in severe or life-threatening injuries in 2019, 37 per cent of all the assaults were also committed by immigrants, according to the German Journalistenwatch.com website.

The site also points out that while there s a palpable surge in migrant crime according to police statistics, Germany s federal government has ordered police officers to attend mandatory anti-racism courses.
