Protests demanding Islamic laws are becoming daily occurrences in Europe

Some would import the Middle East war to Germany.

The first pro-caliphate demonstration in Hamburg staged earlier this year caused general astonishment and outrage in the German media, but now the protests seem to be becoming a regular occurrence. Just like in past demonstrations in support of establishing an Islamic caliphate in Germany, thousands took to the street to demonstrate on Sunday evening, demanding the introduction of Sharia law in Germany. Videos once again showed crowds of Islamists shouting „Allahu Akbar” and other pro-Islamic chants.

The group called Muslim Interaktiv, which is behind the protests, reported that five thousand people attended. The group has been active in organising rallies in Germany, including protests against Israel’s war in Gaza.

Past protests were treated with a shrug. Hamburg police chief Frank Schnabel told ZDF in April that he saw no legal grounds for banning the organisation. Federal Justice Minister Marco Buschmann also made a similar statement, saying that the call for a caliphate is politically absurd but not a punishable offense. Even more remarkably, Thomas Haldenwang, the head of Germany’s Office for the Protection of the Constitution, also downplayed the problem. Remix News highlighted that he is the same spy chief rabidly opposed to the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and has actively spoken out against the party in a highly politicised manner.

German teenagers dancing and singing „Auslander Raus” („Foreigners Out”) faced arrest and massive police responses. The teens videotaped singing the song faced a widespread public witch hunt that resulted in the loss of their jobs and newspaper headlines across the country. In the most famous case on the island of Sylt, German left-wing politicians demanded several years of imprisonment for those caught singing the song at private events.

Remix News reports that for many, the idea of a caliphate in Germany may not sound so absurd. Germany’s Muslim population is expected to grow rapidly, and for those who adhere to a hard-line form of Islam, that growth is likely to accelerate due to their fundamentalist interpretation of the Quran and higher birth rates.

The type of violent protests seen in Hamburg may also serve to recruit more Muslims into their ranks as well, especially as the authorities have shown they have no effective means of calling off such demonstrations.

But the call for Sharia, which in theory would threaten Germany’s democratic constitutional order, is met with laughter and shoulder shrugs by leading politicians. Meanwhile, calls to close Germany’s borders and drastically reduce immigration are treated by state security services as practically a terrorist threat. As previously reported by Remix News, Pew Research already predicts that there could be as many as 75 million Muslims living in Europe by 2050. The respected research firm noted that in Germany, that number could reach 17.4 million Muslims. In the coming decades, their power could grow and they will likely gain major political influence in countries like Germany. This means that such demonstrations could not only become more frequent, but could also be coupled with voter blocs and political power. The fact that Germany is now openly sending arms to Israel in the midst of monumental conflicts in the Middle East will likely fuel further terrorist attacks on the nation.

German politicians can continue to trivialise the issue of these caliphate protests, along with the various other social ills arising from mass immigration, but they will only get worse. The data and the trends all point in this direction. The question now is how hard these same politicians and security services will crack down on those who point out these trends, and especially those who actively oppose them.
