CDU/CSU alliance mockingly likened to 'arsonist desperately looking for a fire extinguisher'
The right-wing Alternative for Germany (AdD) party says it is extremely hypocritical of the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU) to demand a tightening of migration policy when they are responsible for allowing migration in the first place.
The parliamentary group of the party alliance of CDU and CSU has tabled a motion in the federal parliament urging stricter action against mass illegal immigration. According to the CDU/CSU, the rising number of migrants is bringing the country to the limits of what the states, municipalities and residents are willing to accept.
The CDU/CSU group considers it important that people illegally staying in Germany are returned to their home countries. Therefore, the group urges the federal government to remove legal barriers to deportations as soon as possible.
The party group, dubbed „Union” in Germany, has received sharp criticism in the federal parliament from another opposition party. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) described the behaviour of the CDU/CSU group as hypocritical.
„It is like an arsonist desperately trying to find a fire extinguisher. After all, it was Angela Merkel’s party that caused anarchy in immigration in 2015. Its effects are felt to this day,”
said Gottfried Curio at a session of parliament. The AfD representative believes that the incentives continuously attracting people back to Germany should be removed.
The total number of migrants registered in Germany rose to a whopping 3.08 million people in 2022 – more than thirty times the population of Kaiserslautern or Cottbus. Around 1.14 million people were additionally registered in 2022 alone. This is the highest increase that the Federal Statistical Office has reported since the statistics began in 2007.
„It would have been high time long before 2022 to finally end the mass influx and to put our own interests first, instead of gradually making the Germans a minority in their own country,”
the AfD writes in a statement, calling for an immediate revision of the country’s asylum policy. „We must protect our borders, implement deportations quickly and consistently, and remove incentives triggering social migration,” the party says. Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, the AfD believes that Germany needs a balanced foreign policy and that it is necessary to achieve peace in Ukraine as soon as possible so that people would not be forced to flee their country.
Meanwhile, figures show that immigrants from African and Arab countries are increasingly involved in crimes, either as perpetrators or as accomplices.
In 2022, a total of nearly 5.6 million crimes were committed across the country, up by 11.5 per cent compared to the previous year. Authorities managed to crack 57.3 per cent of the registered cases. Compared to 2021, the number of suspects increased to about 2.1 million or by 10.7 percent, according to the report.
The document reveals that theft accounted for about a third of all crimes, representing a 20 per cent rise compared to 2021. Burglaries rose steeply by 21.5 per cent, despite the fact that many people continue to work from home. The number of pickpocketing and shoplifting also increased.
For years, the number of suspects with no German citizenship has been disproportionately high in this country, and this figure has jumped unacceptably, by 22.6 per cent.
Instead of taking action consistently with effective border protection and deportations, as the AfD parliamentary group demands, unrealistic justifications are being fabricated in order to avoid naming the real causes. The current numbers offer irrefutable evidence of the constant failure of this government and especially of the interior minister,
the AfD says in another statement, pointing out that the interior minister poses an ever-increasing security risk to the citizens of the country.
