Double Standards: Laws Were Weaponized During Biden's Tenure

According to officials from the U.S. Department of Justice, prosecutors worked with abortion rights groups to identify pro-life activists, pursued stricter penalties for pro-life defendants, and in some cases withheld evidence or attempted to exclude jurors based on religious beliefs.

The U.S. Department of Justice has announced the dismissal of prosecutors who were „responsible for the weaponization of the FACE Act” during the Biden administration. A government official familiar with the dismissals told CBS News that at least four prosecutors were let go, including Sanjay Patel, a long-serving attorney in the Civil Rights Division’s Criminal Section, who had been placed on administrative leave in March.

The Post Millennial reports that one of the first actions Trump took during his initial week back in the White House was to grant clemency to 23 pro-life activists who had been convicted under the FACE Act by the Biden administration.

The FACE Act, which addresses the freedom of access to clinics and places of worship, prohibits „the use or threat of violence and physical obstruction that causes harm, intimidates, or disrupts a person seeking or providing reproductive health services, or exercising their right to religious freedom as guaranteed by the First Amendment at a place of worship.”

At the time, Trump stated: „They shouldn’t have been prosecuted. Many of them are elderly. It’s a great honor to sign this.” Activists were imprisoned due to protests held at abortion centers in Tennessee, Washington, and New York.

On Tuesday, the Department of Justice released a report claiming that the Biden administration, after reviewing more than 700,000 internal records, weaponized federal laws by selectively prosecuting pro-life activists under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.

According to officials from the Department of Justice, prosecutors collaborated with abortion rights groups to track down activists, sought harsher penalties for pro-life defendants, and in some cases withheld evidence or attempted to exclude jurors on religious grounds, as reported by Fox News.

„This department will not tolerate a two-tiered justice system,” said Todd Blanche, acting Attorney General, in a statement. „No department can engage in selective prosecution based on beliefs,” he added.
