Catering providers in two Strasbourg restaurants have recently had a confrontation with anti-Semitic food runners. According to press reports, the employee of a food delivery company made anti-Semitic remarks and refused to deliver food from a kosher restaurant, saying he would not serve Jews. Soon after, another restaurant faced the same problem, but it is unclear whether it involved the same courier, dna.fr reported.

The kosher restaurant s manager said the anti-Semite, an employee of the food delivery company Deliveroo, showed up at the restaurant in question and asked what their speciality was. When the food runner learnt that the restaurant offers Israeli food, he said he would not be delivering to Jews.

The two restaurants and the National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism (BNVCA) filed a complaint against Deliveroo and the anti-Semitic courier(s). The police and prosecutor s office launched an investigation on susupicion of ethnic discrimination.

According to BFMTV, the courier company contacted the restaurants in question and informed them in writing that they were taking the case extremely seriously and would launch an internal investigation to clarify the circumstances. They added that, should they find evidence that their employee did in fact make anti-Semitic statements, he will be fired with immediate effect because the company strongly condemns and rejects all such acts.
