Following the brutal murder of 14-year-old Jermaine, authorities in Memmingen suspect that there may be Islamist connections behind the horrific crime. Videos have surfaced on social media featuring the alleged perpetrator. According to local media, the suspect is a man named Qais S.

The videos show a man displaying various gestures, including the so-called tauhid greeting; one of the videos is captioned „Free Palestine.”

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the crime, citing the ongoing investigation. Police attempted to arrest the 37-year-old suspect, who then attacked them with a knife. In response, an officer opened fire, killing the man.

Preliminary findings from the autopsy indicate that the 14-year-old boy died from severe violent trauma to the neck. Investigators have reported no evidence of stab wounds so far.

Social media has seen the emergence of videos that raise new questions. The suspect has posted multiple images depicting himself with a mask and making Islamist gestures.

As Qais S.’s nationality has not been definitively established and he lacked a passport, he was not deported but was granted temporary residency.

Initial investigative results suggest he was born in the West Bank, although his citizenship remains unclear, as stated by a spokesperson for the Memmingen prosecutor’s office following the crime. The prosecutor’s office noted that the 37-year-old man had been convicted twice in Germany for illegal residency without a passport and for causing property damage in 2021.
