The „Cables of Resistance” conference took place in Berlin, attended by politicians from the Left Party, representatives from civil organizations, and Guido Arnold, the theoretical leader of the Vulkangruppen. According to nius.de, the organizers indirectly called for the burning of the Amazon skyscraper in Berlin.

The conference’s messaging was clear: the organizers used an image of a severed cable and urged attendees to explore „forms of action” against „Big Tech” and „fascism.”

The website stated: „We are movements and anti-capitalist activists practicing various forms of resistance against Big Tech. We aim to bring together interested parties, activists, and movements, build networks, and connect local struggles.” The organizers distributed stickers depicting a burning Amazon tower, featuring slogans such as „Never accept Amazon tower,” „Jeff, we know where your tower stands,” and lighters inscribed with „The wrong Amazon is Burning.”

The call for action also appeared on social media channels. The Amazon tower is easily accessible on foot from the event venue, located not far from Franz-Mehring-Platz in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district. The conference occurred just over three months after the Vulkangruppen’s attack in Berlin. In January, eco-extremists opposed to technology set fire to high-voltage lines at a power plant in the Lichterfelde district. As a result of the attack, over 100,000 people were left without power for four and a half days.

Thousands had to be evacuated, and life came to a standstill for days in the districts of Zehlendorf, Lichterfelde, Wannsee, Schlachtensee, and Nikolassee, with one woman tragically freezing to death in her apartment. Guido Arnold, an activist and author who also attended the „Cables of Resistance” conference, advocated for „attacks” against the right-wing during a secret meeting in Switzerland shortly after the attack on Berlin’s tram network in January.

A representative from the NGO „FragDenStaat” was also present as an exhibitor at the conference. The supporting Open Knowledge Foundation Deutschland e.V. received over €850,000 in taxpayer money from the federal government in 2024.

While the authorities were aware of the event, they had no knowledge of any plans for critical infrastructure information to be transferred to the far-left during the conference. Other members and associates of the Left Party, including Bundestag advisor Anne Roth and Lena Rohrbach, a prominent figure from Campact, also attended the event.
