FPO seeks to end EU's madness

Brussels is threatening European citizens with censorship and restrictions on free speech.

Petra Steger, a Member of the European Parliament from Austria’s Freedom Party (FPÖ), has called for the abolition of the highly controversial and much criticised EU Digital Services Act (DSA), which she claims serves as a censorship tool for the EU and limits free speech. She highlighted that even the views of Donald Trump, the newly elected President of the United States, reinforce the notion that the DSA could be a means of enforcing brutal internet oversight and suppressing dissenting opinions.

The MEP specifically criticised Brussels for launching an investigation following a conversation between Elon Musk and Alice Weidel. Ms. Steger described the probe as politically motivated persecution, as the EU accuses Musk of interfering in German federal elections, while the Bundestag is examining whether the conversation amounted to illegal support for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, of which Ms. Weidel is the co-chair.

The FPÖ demands the immediate suspension of such measures. Ms. Steger emphasised that the DSA does not serve to protect democracy but rather to suppress unwelcome opinions, posing a serious threat to freedom of speech. She expressed hope that Donald Trump would thwart the EU’s plans, noting that opponents of free speech restrictions could also exploit such laws for their own purposes.
