Illegal migrants attack police in capital – video
The clash between migrants and police got physical following an altercation because of a fire. A female officer was injured and three illegal immigrants were detained. The number of attacks on police officers in the country has risen sharply recently, with an average of 85 verbal or physical assaults per day.
A violent anti-police attack has occurred in a no-go zone of Paris, on Lieutenant-Colonel Dax Street in the northern outskirts of the city, right next to the flea market in Saint-Ouen. According to the daily Le Figaro, police on patrol noticed that a fire was burning under a bridge occupied by migrants a month ago. The officers told the migrants to put out the fire to prevent the flames from spreading to the nearby tents, but the migrants did not comply and started hurling objects at the them. An argument ensued, with the migrants resisting and attacking the police officers who were trying to restrain them resulting in a scuffle.

The video clearly shows as one of the men pushes a female police officer onto the hood of a car, and another migrant runs away from the scene. The policewoman sustained facial injuries and was deemed unable to work for three days.
Three undocumented illegal adult migrants were arrested with the help of the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC), which also arrived on the scene to assist the officers. The detained migrants were prosecuted.
SICP police union spokesman Matthieu Valet said the uniform no longer evokes respect from the people, quite the contrary in fact. In most cases, the attackers are people well known to the police. They have been arrested countless times, yet continue to mock the authorities. Systematic imprisonment should be imposed on those who attack uniformed officers, Mr Valet says.
Bravo aux #policiers de la BAC et la brigade spécialisée de terrain de St-Ouen (93), qui ont interpellé 3 individus dont l’auteur présumé des coups sur la #Policière qui a 3 jours d’ITT.

France has seen a series of attacks on police officers, with less than a month having passed since the latest incident in the north-western city of Rouen, where, according to press reports, a road dispute escalated to the point where a car’s passengers hit another motorist with baseball bats. The police tried to arrest one of the perpetrators, but they surrounded the police car and started kicking and punching it.
Les Gardiens de notre Paix ont du courage !
Alors que des #policiers interpellent un homme á #Rouen, ils sont agressés par une horde de voyous.#Policiers frappés, véhicule cassé, ils ne lésineront pas pour libérer l’interpellé.

According to Actu.fr, one of the policemen was wounded in the head, and the footage also shows another policeman drawing his service weapon and firing in the air to ward off his attackers, while in the meantime, the person under arrest fled the scene.

The number of attacks on police officers in the country has increased dramatically in the last few years, with the daily Le Monde claiming in a February 2021 article that, according to statistics from the interior ministry, the number of such crimes has more than doubled in the last twenty years, with an average of 85 attacks daily on law enforcement officers.
Figures show that the highest number of anti-police attacks occurs in Paris, with nearly 3,000 cases in the French capital in 2020, more than ten per cent of the national total. In second place is the department of Seine-Saint-Denis, adjacent to Paris, which is home to the largest number of Muslim residents, with nearly 2,300 attacks on officers in 2020, and in third place is the Nord department, in the north of the country, with almost 1,300 incidents.
