Sweden's criminal gangs encroach on Norway
Since Denmark has started controlling its border with Sweden more stringently due to criminal gang activity and the ever-increasing threat of terrorism, Swedish criminal gangs are taking advantage of the freedom of movement elsewhere. They are expanding their operations into Norway, where they organize violent acts and are participating in illegal trade.
Denmark has already introduced border controls vis-a-vis Sweden due to the threat posed by terrorists and criminals. Now Norwegian police are appealing for help as gang criminals from Sweden are taking advantage of free movement between the countries and have started to settle in Norway.
Criminal gangs from Sweden started to relocate to Norway. This week, the Norwegian police sounded the alarm that the Swedish criminal organization Foxtrot, along with its leader ‘the Kurdish Fox’ have made their way into the Norwegian underworld.
Police have found that Norwegian criminals hire gang members from Sweden to carry out violent acts and missions. According to police suspicions, Foxtrot likely wants to establish itself in the Norwegian illicit drug market.
‘In general, we are seeing that the activities of Swedish gang criminals on Norwegian soil have become increasingly apparent, and we know that they are involved in violent missions’, writes Aste Dahle Sundet, communications department head of the National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos), adding that ‘what is happening in Sweden can also reach Norway, if we do not take the threat seriously. In Norway, we have the situation and criminal syndicates well under control,’ writes the communications head.
