Orban-Coe meeting: Hungary preparing for biggest sports event in its history

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met with Sebastian Coe, president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), on Sunday. The British sports leader arrived in Budapest for the World Aquatics Championships, and to gain information on the preparations for next year's World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Bertalan Havasi, the prime minister's press chief told the Hungarian state news agency (MTI).

Budapest will host the third biggest sporting event in the world, the World Athletics Championships, between 19 and 27 August, 2023.

This will be the biggest sporting event in the history of Hungary, with athletes from more than 200 countries, and media coverage reaching more than a billion people,

the press chief said.

PM Orban and Mr Coe expressed their satisfaction with the organisation, noting that everything is going according to plan. The IAAF president also stressed that there is a very good team working to deliver a fantastic World Championships to the public.
