Although it is not uncommon to see high proportions of foreigners among perpetrators in Western Europe today, this ratio is staggeringly high.

An incredible 91 per cent of those convicted of rape in Spain’s Catalonia are foreigners, while immigrants make up 17 per cent of the Region’s total population, RMX News points out.

Data shows that there are 8,505 inmates in Catalan prisons and that 50.48 per cent of them are foreigners. However, when looking at the numbers broken down by specific serious crimes, foreigners are even more vastly over-represented.

When the all sexual assaults category also includes rape, 64.2 per cent of prisoners are foreigners.

However, if the category is further broken down with rape, a more serious crime, as a separate group the proportion of foreigners is 91.67 per cent

Moroccans are the leading foreign nationality in terms of sexual assaults and rapes. They are followed by Colombians, Dominicans, Senegalese, Pakistanis, Ecuadorians, Romanians, and Algerians. In total, there are currently 324 prisoners doing time for sexual offenses, with 208 inmates foreigners; 22 are foreigners of the altogether 24 incarcerated for rape.
