Manfred Weber, EP group leader of the European People’s Party, recently drew general outcry by saying on a Bavarian television programme that a European nuclear weapon was needed. In his view, if French President Emmanuel Macron offered a nuclear weapon to Europe, then this was an offer that should be taken up. In the programme, Manfred Weber said he was disappointed that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the federal government were voiceless regarding Macron’s proposal to send Western troops to Ukraine.

Weber also pressed for the introduction of compulsory military service throughout the European Union. In this context, V4NA contacted the EP group leader of the European People’s Party to inquire

whether he would send his close family and relatives to the Russia-Ukraine war.

However, the Bavarian Christian Democratic politician is profoundly silent when it comes to experiencing the horrors of war first hand. The Russia-Ukraine war has already ruined hundreds of thousands of lives and claimed hundreds of thousands of civilian and military victims. Yet Western politicians continue to fuel the fire in a bid to escalate the war.
