Polish opposition seeks actors for campaign video

Sensing that the upcoming presidential race will not be as tight as previously expected, Poland s opposition has launched a desperate propaganda campaign against the incumbent president. While President Duda s arguements focus of his government s achievements, his leftist opponent plans to feature a Greta Thunberg lookalike in his new campaign video.

With sixteen days to go until Poland s presidential race and the incumbent Andrzej Duda having increasing his lead, the oppsition has become palpably more desperate.

Summarising his work during the past five years, President Duda has shared a number of videos in which he provides details on his measures implemented in various areas, as well as his general achievements. Summing up his foreign policy achievements, he said he had signed 78 international agreements and announced or ratified an additional 370, and he also talked about his successes in domestic policy, which he based on providing support to Polish pansioners and families.

As President Duda s results speak volumes, the opposition finds it increasingly difficult to keep up. Their latest stunt in the making is linked to their most established candidate, Rafal Trzaskowski, who wants to win Polish voters hearts and minds with a new campaign video. A list obtained by wPolityce suggests that a prominent casting agency in Warsaw is seeking actors and actresses for roles such as „praying elderly woman, radical nationalist militant, young activist girl resembling Greta Thunberg,” or „a wheelchair-bound elegant male”. The news site says it can hardly wait to see the opposition s new, presumably „heart-wrenching” campaign video.

With the stats prefiguring his downfall, Trzaskowski is in desperate need of votes. Although, following a tight first race, he was initially perceived as a real rival to President Duda, he has since lost some of his support. A fresh poll published by Social Changes on Thursday shows that Duda has a solid 40% support, while Trzaskowski is backed by only 29 per cent of the electorate. According to figures compiled by the Pollster Research Institute, this discrepancy could be even bigger with Duda in the lead with 41,17 per cent, followed by Trzaskowski at 28,14 per cent.
