Bratislava should be clearly aware that increasingly active involvement in the military support of the Kyiv regime will lead to an unpredictable and dangerous escalation of the conflict, Russia's embassy in Slovakia warned.

The supplying of weapons and military hardware, including aircraft, to the Kyiv regime will only protract combat operations, multiply the number of casualties, including civilians, and will not at all contribute to resolution of the crisis in Ukraine, as Bratislava claims, Russia’s embassy in Slovakia wrote on its official Telegram channel in response to the Slovak government’s decision to transfer MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine.

„The transfer of Soviet- and Russian-made weapons to Kiev is illegal, because relevant Russian-Slovak agreements explicitly prohibit any transfer of such weapons and military hardware to third countries without consent from the manufacturing country,” the Russian embassy pointed out.

Bratislava should be aware that further involvement in military support for the Kyiv regime will entail an unpredictable and dangerous escalation of the conflict, for which the entire responsibility will rest with the makers of such decisions, the embassy wrote.

Polish President Andrzej Duda also announced recently that Poland will transfer MiG-29s to Ukraine, and that the war-ravaged country will receive the first jets in the next few days. Slovakia plans to transfer its fighter jets in coordination with Poland.
