Liberal elite turns human rights against people

Tymoteusz Zych, Vice President of the Polish Ordo Iuris Institute, has quoted from Pope John Paul II after signing a cooperation agreement with the Budapest-based Centre for Fundamental Rights. He told V4NA that the liberal elite uses the disguise of human rights and rationality to shape the world s legal systems and fundamental values in their own image.

To protect conservative and Christian values, the Ordo Iuris Institute for Legal Culture and the Center for Fundamental Rights signed an agreement on Friday in Budapest.

Following the event, Jerzy Kwasniewski, president of Ordo Iuris, and Tymoteusz Zych, vice president of the organisation, gave an interview to V4NA, and expressed their concerns about Europe s liberal present.

Jerzy Kwasniewski explained that Europe s Christian identity – although some debate it – rests on a firm and rational basis despite the fact the EU s liberal elite has been trying to undermine it during the last 40-50 years not on the grounds of rational arguments but rather driven by the dogmas of liberal ideology. He said it s not just the heritage of Christianity and European identity that are in danger, because this is „an attack against national sovereignty that seeks to repeal the sovereignty of both Poland and Hungary, contrary to the letter and intent of the conventions signed by the member states.”

Tymoteus Zych, the vice president of the institute, added that this irrational ideology tends to shatter families and cause economic and demographic crises, all under a pseudo-scientific disguise. He quoted the words of Pope John Paul II, who wrote in his 2005 book: „Human rights are turned against humanity”. Zych said the pope had recognised early on the unfolding phenomenon that rational thought and human rights were used as rhetorical tools to support liberal dogmas.

He added that there are documents, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948, that are actually based on the customs of the adopting countries. However, this natural order and legal system is now being questioned by many on an ideological basis which has nothing to do with the spirit of the law. He stressed that this could lead to catastrophic results, because declaring such documents to be „living instruments” allows for a contemporary interpretation and validates the standpoint to perceive, „for example, the right to life (ICCPR III/6) as a principle supporting abortion, which is just ridiculous!”

According to Zych, these are textbook examples of using law as a tool to promote an ideology „by liberal advocates like Hungarian businessman George Soros, who has done a lot in this respect.” He added that no one had questioned this for a long time, and even the UN Human Rights Commission was involved in the process. „What can the judges do,” Zych asks, „if they are under constant pressure from one side and nothing from the other? They follow those who put more pressure on them. We re here to change that!”
