PM Orban: George Soros has attacked Hungary several times

There is a network behind the European Parliament. This is where George Soros, who has built up strong positions in the body through his NGOs, comes into the picture, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with Hungary s public radio.

Speaking about the EU s seven-year budget, Viktor Orban said negotiations have been ongoing for months, especially with the Germans. They were looking for solutions for the problem that the European Parliament (EP) and some member states had a completely different vision of the European Union s future. According to the Hungarian prime minister, the European Parliament wanted to take power from the European Council, and there was a danger that no agreement would be reached due to the EP.

He said they had reached sufficient numbers by the last day of the EU summit in order to ensure success.

Hungary s premier explained that the EP wanted to take control of the union. MEPs believe that Europe means Brussels and are convinced that issues need to be decided there. However, the heads of government believe that the EU is in the national capitals, and this is something that must be articulated.

According to Viktor Orban, there is a network behind the EP and this is where George Soros, who has built up strong positions in the European Parliament through his NGOs, comes into the picture. Through these NGOs, they want to seize decisions authorising them to govern Europe from the democratically elected politicians.

„It s a constant struggle,” he declared, adding that this is a new chapter in globalism.

Viktor Orban said that Soros had repeatedly attacked Hungary with his writings, adding that he had thought a lot about whether to get into an argument with the most corrupt man of the world and came to the conclusion that if he didn t, no one else would. The prime minister recalled that the portal that published Soros s writings rejected to publish his piece.

„This is what Western press freedom looks like,” he said.

According to Mr Orban, what Soros and his associates are doing now, with the help of the Hungarian left, goes beyond the level that a country could simply shrug off. It is not normal that Soros is working in Brussels to cause damage to Hungarian people.

The Hungarian PM also said that he would announce a new economic protection action plan on Saturday.

With regards to EU issues not related to the economy, he said that although they had managed to reach a good agreement now, there would be further disputes in the future.

One of these will concern immigration. The EU wants to provide 34 million migrants with citizenship, housing and aid. The Hungarian premier does not dispute that Western countries have a right to that, but he rejects that the same measures should be forced on Hungary.

Regarding the gender issue, he described it as a problem of „peripheric life situations” which does not affect 99 per cent of the people.

According to PM Orban, there is always something that deviates from the general norms. When it comes to people, we must give them respect, but we should avoid situations in which the majority accedes to the positions of the minority.

Speaking of the coronavirus pandemic, the Hungarian PM said that although the numbers are not getting worse, this is not a consolation. He noted that Western European countries kept introducing increasingly strict measures. Germany, for example, will go into complete lockdown, he added.

„The Hungarian health care system can fulfil its tasks,” he said, adding that the greatest enemy of healthcare employees was fatigue.

Viktor Orban asked everyone not to go skiing, as the border lockdown is still in place. He said that the vaccine will be available for 35 thousand people by the end of December. Vaccination of health care workers will start in Hungary on 27 or 28 December. The administration of the vaccine will be free and voluntary, but he asked doctors and nurses to have themselves vaccinated.

As regards Christmas, Mr Orban said that the people would have to refrain from visiting relatives, as it could be harmful to everyone. The government will decide on the restrictions regarding Christmas Eve on Monday.
