„Dear friends! On this special day, I wish you to have the power, like Sandor Petofi had, to harness your talents and abilities in the service of the values you believe in,” the Polish prime minister said, making a reference to Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi, a prominent figure of the 1848-49 revolution and freedom fight.”

„Love and freedom,”  the Polish premier quoted a line (in Hungarian) from a poem by Sandor Petofi, explaining that „these are the two words I can remember from the past when I came to Budapest as a student seeking freedom. To me, these two words are inextricably linked to Hungary and the Hungarian nation,” he added.

Mateusz Morawiecki said the Poles had shared the Hungarians desire for freedom. He added that the two peoples are connected by centuries of friendship and brotherhood.

„Our nations love freedom and have proven their ability to fight for it and support each other in this fight. Today, although there is no longer a need for armed struggle, we continue to support each other and we are allies.

We jointly look after the well-being of our citizens as well as the development and security of the entire region,” the prime minister emphasized.

At the end of the video, Mateusz Morawiecki addressed the Hungarian people, saying: „Be proud of your own history, culture and language. Cultivate your deep-rooted desire for freedom. It is the desire which can change the world for the better, as you have demonstrated several times.”

The Polish prime minister concluded his speech with the Hungarian words: „Hajrá Magyarország, hajrá magyarok!” (Go Hungary, go Hungarians!)
